Hi there, and welcome to the Caveat Lector Page.

Since we make animated short films and doccos, not websites, we’d rather spend our time and $ on animation and paying people interested (hopefully you), not paying webhosts. So we’ve made "film clips" of what you need to know to see if you’d like to get paid to have some fun with us, available in the links above.  Are they links to free host downloads? Yup. Why? Because we’re looking to pay locals in Coffs, not metro techno-geek companies. The samples will be heavily compressed, and the trailer is silent because we don’t want to waste your time/bandwidth/etc. on "right click and save".   Just hit the "links", a gigashare page will pop up in a new browser window, click download, you're done.  About the links:

 

1 the "about us" video trailer (wmv. file, 2.51 MB, with sound, if you actually give a crap about indie-aussie animation you won’t mind downloading it, but hey, this is Coffs. We know better than to ask for that...):

If after you watch them, you’re still interested, just check the other stuff below with info about other ways to make $ with us, all the "blah blah blah" crap. Then e-mail us. Only e-mail, no phone. Why? Every goddamn sparky, tradesman, etc. in Oz NEVER answers their ph., never calls back, is never their on their EXPENSIVE mobile number, meatheads and bimbos spend hours every day texting people who mean nothing but never get anything DONE or show up when it matters. So basically people addicted to phone-crap are annoying and a waste of time and can go to hell. We can bother to pay cash, so we want people who can bother to write a short e-mail. Fair’s Fair.

DOCCO INTERVIEW SUBJECTS:

ghost stories: got a real life ghost story that’s very visual that would raise goosepimples? Know someone who does? We’ll pay for that. We can’t pay for "soft stuff" like rocking chairs moving by themselves in a locked room or vague white shapes at the top of some stairs (no Broadcaster buys those), but we will pay for physical attacks by spirits, clear sightings of barely human or inhuman phantoms/spectres/revenants, clear encounters with spirit/totem animals, etc. Payment for GOOD stories ONLY.

Nanna Natter: old cultures often had wonderful stories of goblins, magical creatures and related things that no-one sees on TV, that are nearly impossible to find in bookstores/libraries or on the net. Tales told by the "old wise women" to children. We want to save these, breathe animation-life into them. If you’ve got a good one (like the Rakshasa from India or Baba Yaga from the Slavic Lands or Black Annis from the UK), we’ll pay for it.

Wowser Woes: Before John Howard, Tony Abbot and their fundie-friends took over, Oz was a very different place romantically and sexually for both men and women. A lot more options and freedoms. Much less conservative. "Alternative" people willing to compare "then" and "now" in interviews sharing recollections are of interest to us, especially if you come from a "non skippy" cultural background.

All Animated Interview subjects will get paid the same as other jobs here, and faces/voices will be changed so you remain anonymous.

 

 

 

MORE WAYS FOR YOU TO MAKE $

Real estate agents get commissions from sales, and you can do the same thing with us. If you know someone that’ll hire this company for a project, then you’ll get 10% of whatever they end up paying us. All you have to do is send them to this section of the site and have them check out our samples, then make sure they mention you when they ask us to make some toonage or do some editing for them. What kind of stuff might that be? Many things, like ~

* someone who wants a personal movie made, but wants something better and more unique than what they’d get from a yellow pages person who does wedding videos or barmitzfahs

* someone who needs to send a "Dear John Letter" but feels an animated one would soften the blow better

* someone would love to send an animated cartoon of a dearly despised/hated ex boss/ex partner/whatever going to hell (literally) for whatever they did to piss them off

* a struggling band that wants an AFFORDABLE video to have on the net or send to RAGE (bear in mind that material for the net is MUCH cheaper than what’s necessary for television broadcast; see below)

* someone who thinks they have a great story they want to sell to TV or the movie business who’d want a trailer made of their story to pitch or use to sell it (again, TV/DVD version is more expensive than a net version)

* someone (with $ to burn) that wrote a short script that no-one else seems capable of making but feels sure it’d do brilliantly at tropfest or would get on Eat Carpet

We charge $350 per ten seconds of finished material (NBN charges $700 for their least expensive ten second commercials). 50% up front, remaining 50% upon completion. Turnaround time can be given to anyone who’s interested and e-mails us with details of what they want, and yes, we give free quotes.

So, if you send us someone that pays us $700 for 20 seconds of toonage, you get $70 for just making a referal. Good, EASY money.
